Al-Terra & EDA give back to the community

Al-Terra Engineering and EDA Planning + Urban Design believe in contributing back to the communities they serve and helping those in need. In 2021, the firms collectively donated $139,000 to over 50 charities throughout Edmonton and the surrounding area. “Al-Terra and EDA have been fortunate over the years and are proud of our success and the opportunity we are able to provide our employees, but we also understand that not everyone is as fortunate,” said Al-Terra President and CEO, Sheldon Hudson.

Additionally, the staff from both firms selected the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton (SACE) as the Charity of Choice for 2021, and throughout the year they were able to fundraise nearly $12,000. This amount was matched by Al-Terra, bringing the total donated to SACE just below $24,000. These funds went to support people impacted by sexual violence, and to resources for engaging communities to promote respect and uphold a culture of consent.

“One of our principles at Al-Terra and EDA is to give back to the community,” added Hudson. While still needing to work within COVID-19 restrictions and a virtual environment, Al-Terra and EDA employees stepped forward to participate in events and donate to an amazing cause. Fundraisers for the year included virtual events for hockey pools, silent auctions, Chase the Ace, and more. The 2021 Charity Management Team applauded the staff’s generosity and commitment, and pointed out how proud they were to work alongside such amazing people.

Al-Terra and EDA are Edmonton-based firms that have deep roots in the communities that they live and work in.
