I am a Senior Design Engineer at Al-Terra with over 30 years of experience on neighbourhood renewal, transportation, land development and streetscape projects. Over the last 18 years, I have worked on 15 neighbourhood/alley renewal projects. These include the Strathcona, Belgravia and Glenora neighbourhoods. I am usually involved in projects from inception to completion. This includes completing conceptual designs, preliminary designs, detailed designs, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, tender documents, in-field designs and providing in-field construction support. My work includes the design of geometrics, grading, drainage facilities, low impact development facilities, pavement marking, signage and utility modifications for arterial roads, collector roads, residential roads, shared use paths, bike facilities and parkways.
The part of my work that I enjoy most is the preparation of drawings using Acad and Civil 3D. It is rewarding to start with a blank drawing and to see how the drawing develops throughout the design process to a final product that is informative, accurate and legible.
