Al-Terra believes in giving back to the communities it serves and helping those in need. One of our core values is to be compassionate citizens of our community. We not only express gratitude; we support and uplift our communities through charitable giving and volunteering. We do this because it is the right thing to do, and because this philosophy is an integral part of our culture.
Our commitment to charities goes beyond donations. Every year, an employee or a small group of employees become designated chairperson(s) and these individuals research and vote to select the Charity of Choice for that year. Everyone supports that year’s chosen charity through volunteering, employee-led fundraising events, initiatives, or personal donations.
Beyond our Charity of Choice, Al-Terra proudly supports the industries and communities where we work, live, and serve through sponsorships, participation, and volunteerism. We believe in nurturing strong relationships with people, communities, and the environments in which we live, work, and play.
2024 Charity of Choice
Second Chance Animal Rescue Society (SCARS) is a non-profit organization in Alberta that rescues unwanted pets with the goal of finding them loving homes. SCARS takes in over 2,000 pets every year.
They collect pets from remote area dog pounds and veterinary clinics as well as stray and abandoned pets. Many animals are sick or injured. SCARS makes sure that every animal is given the medical care and rehabilitation required. They also spay/neuter, vaccinate, and microchip animals in their care.
SCARS actively works within northern Alberta and partners with First Nations and Métis communities, where a lack of accessible and affordable pet services is often a reality. SCARS works to provide all pets and communities with safe, healthy, and happy pets.
We are thrilled and honoured to act as Chairs for this year’s Charity of Choice! Recognizing the incredible joy that our pets bring to our families, we are deeply appreciative that we have the means to care for our animals (dogs, cats, and horses), ensuring they live healthy and happy lives. We leapt at the opportunity to recognize and support the incredible work done by SCARS as they provide a lifeline for animals in need, rescuing and rehabilitating them, and ultimately finding them their forever homes. Their dedication to animal welfare and their tireless effort to support both animals and people in challenging circumstances continue to inspire us. We are beyond excited to support SCARS through some fun events planned this year, from our annual pie day fundraiser to the chilli cook off and more (with puppies, of course)! We are honoured to contribute to SCARS’ vision of no animal left behind.
