As a member of the Urban Design and Renewal team, I am privileged to affect many parts of the communities we live and work in. In collaboration with residents, stakeholders, and other design and construction professionals, I help shape the way we get around our neighbourhoods, whether by car, bike, wheeling, or walking.
I am a senior design technologist, who specializes in urban renewal projects focused on improving intersection safety, adding active modes infrastructure, and ensuring stormwater management infrastructure is not only able to protect property against flood risk, but by implementing Low Impact Development features, can also improve water quality from runoff.
During my career, I have been in the roles of surveyor, site inspector, contract preparation and administration, designer, and project manager, on projects ranging from major arterial roads, neighbourhood renewals, streetscapes, active modes, traffic calming and stormwater management. This experience provides me with an understanding of what it takes to create a successful project from start to finish.
I chose to build my career at Al-Terra because our values are in perfect alignment. Not only does every client and every project deserve my best, always, but the importance of being active citizens in our communities is something we all benefit from. Outside of work, one of my proudest achievements has been my volunteer work with a local non-profit organization. I have been able to apply my skills and experience to help the organization reach our goal of constructing and owning our own building so we can expand and improve the services and programming we provide to families and youth.
Of course, amongst our busy schedules, it is important to seek balance between work and personal wellbeing. If you want to know what that means to me, be sure to ask about the latest historical fiction novel I am reading, or the score of our last soccer match, or maybe the most recent ski hill our family visited.
