Al-Terra celebrates founder Leo Broks

At an open house event held in Edmonton, staff gathered to celebrate the storied career of Al-Terra founder Leo Broks, P.Eng., as he prepares to step back from his duties at the firm.

Following the founding of Al-Terra in 1976, Mr. Broks served as General Manager, President, Chairman of the Board, and most recently as Senior Advisory Engineer. An exceptional engineer, with strong technical skills, Leo developed long-term relationships with clients based on the values of integrity, trust and honesty. Values which he has instilled in Al-Terra’s staff, and clients which we still have today.

Leo has always led by example, carrying out many engineering functions in land development and municipal projects for the firm. But perhaps his greatest achievement was in making commitment to the community an integral part of the Al-Terra culture, through service on numerous committees and boards, charitable giving and support of the arts.

In a career that has seen many highlights, Leo received a Spirit Award in 2005 and the Honorary Life Membership Award this year from the Urban Development Institute-Edmonton Metro. In 2014, together with his brother Corry, Leo was honoured with the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Distinguished Achievement.

Al-Terra management and staff are thankful for all that Mr. Broks has done to make the firm so successful and such a great place to work. And for the time being, they are grateful to still be able to draw upon Leo’s knowledge and wealth of expertise as he transitions into full retirement.

Al-Terra has been proudly serving the evolving needs of public and private sector clients with engineering, planning and design solutions since 1976.
