What is your favourite Al-Terra core value, and why?
I appreciate that we work hard, deliver quality projects, and still make time to enjoy the journey together. The balance between professionalism and a fun team culture makes Al-Terra a great place to grow.

What has been your favourite social event at Al-Terra?
My favourite Al-Terra social event is Pi(e) Day. I enjoy how it brings everyone together across offices and departments for some friendly competition, lots of laughs, and a great cause. It's a fun way to connect with coworkers while raising money for fundraising initiatives.

Who is someone you admire and why?
I admire my parents for their resilience and sacrifice. They immigrated from Eritrea to Sudan and later to Canada in search of a better life for our family. Despite the challenges of starting over in a new country and not speaking the language, they worked tirelessly and supported me and my siblings throughout our educational journeys. Their perseverance, dedication, and commitment to providing opportunities for us continue to inspire me every day.

I am an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) with Al-Terra Engineering Ltd. in Calgary, Alberta, specializing in municipal infrastructure and land development projects. My passion for engineering comes from the opportunity to help shape communities through thoughtful design, collaboration, and problem-solving. I enjoy working on projects that transform ideas into functional infrastructure and create long-term value for clients, municipalities, and the public.

My journey into engineering began in February 2022 when I started as a Rodman with Kellam Berg Engineering & Surveys Ltd. Over the next year and a half, I progressed through roles as an Inspector and Civil Engineering Technologist. These experiences provided me with a strong foundation in field operations, engineering design, and the importance of teamwork and adaptability.

To further advance my career, I pursued a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario. During my studies, I returned to Al-Terra as a summer student, gaining valuable experience in land development and municipal infrastructure projects. Following graduation, I joined Al-Terra full-time as an Engineer-in-Training in May 2025.

Since joining Al-Terra, I have worked on projects including CrossIron Business Park, Rosemont, and Shuttleworth Crescent. Through these opportunities, I have gained experience in engineering design, municipal approvals, construction administration, site inspections, and stakeholder coordination. One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is seeing projects progress from concept to completed infrastructure that serves growing communities.

I currently hold a Diploma in Computer Science from Comboni college, Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from SAIT, and a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from Lakehead University. My goal is to become a Professional Engineer and continue contributing to impactful infrastructure projects across Western Canada.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing soccer, staying active, networking, and exploring Alberta on my Yamaha FZ‑07 motorcycle.
