As a Site Development Engineer-in-Training based in Calgary, I have the rewarding opportunity to design storm drainage systems and utility connections that link individual sites to the city’s mains. My passion is to create accessible and efficient spaces. I believe everyone should be able to easily navigate the area they live in. I have had the opportunity to work on the above ground network of transportation as well as the below ground network of utilities which provides me with a unique appreciation of infrastructure that works together seamlessly.
I started my journey with Al-Terra based out of the Edmonton office as part of the Urban Design and Renewal team before moving to the Calgary office where I joined the Southern Alberta Site Development team. While in Edmonton, I worked on the Garneau Neighbourhood Renewal and the Boyle Street and McCauley Neighbourhood Renewal projects with the City of Edmonton as we updated the neighbourhood transportation infrastructure. In Calgary, I am fortunate to meet with schools and developers to help their sites drain water when it rains and make sure they are serviced appropriately.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and I have continued my education with courses such as Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA+) and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED).
When I am not helping to get people where they need to go, I am exploring. Whether it is reading a new book, reorganizing my house, walking around the neighbourhood, visiting a shopping district, taking in the mountains, or even travelling abroad, I am noticing the paths people take. I enjoy driving the highway to visit my parents just as much as I appreciate biking around the city for ice cream or taking public transit to go to a hockey game.
