I joined Al‑Terra in August 2025 as part of the Geomatics team, where I work as a Survey Assistant. I am a University of Alberta graduate with a degree in Chemical Engineering. My current role has given me the chance to explore a different side of the engineering world. Working in construction, residential, and oilfield surveying has helped me see how each project connects to the bigger picture. What I enjoy most is working with people who each bring their own approach. Even when setting up equipment, no two people do it the same way, yet everyone arrives at the right result. I find that fascinating because it reminds me that there is always more than one way to do something well.
One of the most memorable projects I have been part of was at an oil and gas processing facility, where our team spent a week completing a pile survey and layout for an upcoming expansion. It was a rewarding experience to see how much depended on the precision of our work and to know that what we did helped set the foundation for the entire development. Working closely with welders and other trades gave me a firsthand understanding of how every role relies on one another, which made me truly appreciate just how critical teamwork is in this field.
Looking ahead, my goal over the next few years at Al%#8209;Terra is to grow into a well‑rounded engineer, building on my experience as a Survey Assistant. I am looking forward to developing my technical skills, including proficiency with tools such as AutoCAD, while also enhancing my communication skills through fieldwork and collaboration with contractors, operators, and other trades.
Outside of work, I enjoy baking, playing volleyball, volunteering, taking a walk around downtown, and definitely trying out new cuisines.
