What is your personal motto?
Don’t quit when it gets tough—keep moving forward. Challenges, whether personal or professional, can weigh us down, but the best way to overcome them is through persistence. By continuing to work toward a solution or compromise, we turn obstacles into progress and ultimately achieve success.

What project are you most proud of and why?
I am proud to have contributed to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Reach 11 Project, completed in 2023. This was Phase 1 of a larger initiative that began planning in 2015. I was involved from the very start—through preliminary and detailed design—right up to construction completion. The project involved constructing a combined road and berm along the Clearwater River to protect the Waterways community from flooding during spring melt and river breakup events. Additional features included a new dog park, boat launch access points, and installation of storm ponds and stormwater piping systems. With a value of $25.6 million, the project was completed within 24 months and played a critical role for Fort McMurray, impacting numerous stakeholders and enhancing community resilience.

What is your favourite thing about working at Al-Terra?
Al-Terra is professional yet feels like family. Although I am new to the organization, I have already experienced the passion and personal ownership that every team member brings to their projects. This culture goes beyond delivering quality work it’s about pride, accountability, and genuine care for clients and colleagues. A great comparison is a local grocery store where everyone knows your name. From the clerks to the stock staff and even the part-time employees, they recognize you, greet you warmly, and take pride in their store. They want you to return because you’re more than just a transaction, you’re part of their community. That’s what Al-Terra represents. Here, you are not a number or just a paychecque. Every project matters every relationship matters and every person matters. This sense of ownership and connection is what makes the organization truly special.

With a strong foundation in civil engineering technology and extensive experience in transportation project management, I bring expertise in stakeholder engagement, conflict resolution, and the pre-construction phases of rural road and bridge projects.

I began my career with Alberta Transportation after graduating from the Civil Engineering Technology program at NAIT. Following government downsizing, I transitioned into the private sector engineering working on end product specification paving projects. I am now with Al-Terra, continuing to work closely with Alberta Transportation, municipalities, and private clients.

My ability to build trusted relationships has been key to successfully addressing the unique challenges of infrastructure development across Alberta. I have also contributed to projects in the Northwest Territories and British Columbia, always emphasizing a collaborative approach between client, consultant, and contractor.

For me, success means sharing knowledge and experience with those entering the engineering field. Supporting junior civil engineering technologists and engineers, whether in the field or the office, by answering questions and helping them gain confidence is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.
