I am a senior legal surveyor and geomatics technologist at Al-Terra. I started my career in surveying as a surveyor’s assistant at Lovse Surveys in the summer of 1998 right after graduating from St. Mary’s High School. After taking a short break from surveying, I obtained a job as a surveyor’s assistant at Kellam Berg Engineering & Surveys in the summer of 1999. A few short years after that, I was promoted to junior party chief where I did such tasks as residential house stakeouts, pin footings and Real Property Reports. Over the years, as my skillset improved, I started working on legal boundary surveys, strata space subdivisions and condominium plans. It was at this point that I really had a passion for legal surveys and was trying to find the next stage in the development of my career in geomatics.

In 2014, I enrolled in the Geomatics Engineering program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in Calgary. This program really closed the gap on uncertainties and made me more valuable personally and for our firm. I was now on the mission to make the next steps required to become a licensed Alberta Land Surveyor. These requirements included multiple on-line and in-class courses through BCIT, University of New Brunswick and the University of Calgary in order to get the necessary accredited requirements from the Canadian Board of Examiners for Professional Surveyors (CBEPS). I am proud of my accomplishments over the years to be able to find the energy and commitment required to do my schooling while working full time. I am currently close to the finish line and plan to commence my articling this year.
