Ardrossan Heights – Estates
Al-Terra in conjunction with various sub-consultants, was retained by Strata Developments to carry out engineering design and construction management (including survey) for approximately 56 hectares of raw land in the Hamlet of Ardrossan within Strathcona County. The development consists of various low and medium density residential product types, associated municipal reserve parks, two inter-connected neighbourhood stormwater management facilities, and about 1300 m of rural roadways within an urban setting.
This project involved coordinating approvals, designing, and installing an outfall structure on Point-aux-pins Creek. It also entailed redesigning the Estates development area and conducting geotechnical and hydrotechnical studies along the creek to ensure no negative impact from the development.
A deep sanitary trunk was installed along Main Street to provide service to adjacent lands, preventing costly retrofits in the future. Traffic calming features were installed in the Estates development area at the request of Strathcona County. The existing rural water main was rerouted over two stages of construction while maintaining water service.
