Belgravia Neighbourhood Renewal

Al-Terra commenced preliminary design on the Belgravia Neighbourhood Renewal project in October 2015; field design was initiated prior to the contractor’s commencement to facilitate alignment with the construction schedule.

Field reviews and reconnaissance were conducted to assess the condition of existing sidewalks, curbs, and gutters. Design efforts focused on improving roadway safety, minimizing impacts on utilities, and reducing effects on adjacent landowners. Grades were designed to enhance existing substandard road grades without adversely affecting adjacent lots and landscaping. Utility installation schedules required Al-Terra to be responsive to the contractor’s scheduling options. Al-Terra completed additional projects early to ensure the contractor’s schedule was maintained. Al-Terra, the City, and the contractor maintained good communication with residents to address additional issues not covered in the public consultation process. In-field grade design turnaround times consistently met or exceeded the requirements set by the City and contractor.
