Sienna Residential Subdivision
Al-Terra was was retained to undertake engineering design and construction management (including survey) by Qualico Developments for the roughly 185 hectares (ha) of raw land in the Southfort area of Fort Saskatchewan. The development to date (50 ha) consists of various low and medium density residential product types, associated municipal reserve parks, a children’s play structure, a 2.4 ha regional storm water management facility, about 1600 m of arterial roadway, and a connection to Range Road 224 under an Altalink transmission line.
A significant amount of money was saved by combining the first stage of on-site earthworks with the excavation of the regional stormwater management facility. Due to the very flat topography of the site, innovative storm sewer and drainage designs were required, including the installation of large diameter storm trunks to service different areas of the development. Additionally, 950 m of arterial roadway had to be designed and constructed in the initial stage of the development to provide permanent access to the site.
